Hi Bonsai, I lived in Calgary when I first moved to Canada and when I was told this I couldn't believe it. In my 3 years there, I never saw one, actually the province of Alberta claims to be Rat Free, period. I asked a lot of people from there and all of them confirmed they have never seen a live rat, just in the movies. My wife indeed was born in Manitoba and lived in calgary for the longest time and she just saw her first live rat ever on a park in BC a few weeks ago. Hard to believe but true.

PS. Calgary has been named the healthiest and cleanest city in the world for several years now.

La calidad de vida Mao. Yo soy originario de Mexico, naci creci y fui a la escuela ahi y he tenido la oportunidad de viajar y de vivir en varios paises, incluyendo USA. Despues de todo lo que he visto, la calidad de vida que tenemos aqui es inigualable Probablemente los paises nordicos nos superan, pero nada mas.. Ciertamente hace frio en el invierno, pero bueno, nada es perfecto no???

Alberta had a "rat patrol". They basically killed most, if not all, of the rats in Alberta. The program isn't funded any more though.
