Here in the US we have big box retailers that sell us stuff in bulk - no sachets. Of course, that means we invariably have more stuff than we need. So much stuff in fact that families rent storage spaces to keep all the stuff they don't need. There's one near my house that's building a new extension and it astounds me that despite the recession we had here beginning in 2008, people have continued to accumulate so much stuff that the storage companies are expanding...

While that's true, I think that sachets, when used and disposed of properly are pretty fine. They're cheap (which is useful for the lower middle class and poor people) and you only need to use what you need. Still though, I agree they contribute to the problem.
