This is maybe depressing, but I think probably Auschwitz. I think a lot of Americans still think of Poland in the context of World War II - even though that was seventy years ago.

Also, the city of Warsaw has a good reputation among my friends as a really nice place to visit. I'm hoping to go there someday myself!

I think of Poland as a place with a complicated and difficult history. I also associate the country with brilliant people who are nice, artistic, and scientific. I would like to visit someday.

I associate Poland with 1) beautiful pottery, 2) austere communist agriculture, and 3) concentration camps. What this shows me is that I don't know much about Poland!
