Is the typical Iranian supportive of the Iranian government's actions regarding developing nuclear weapons?Furthermore, in your opinion is Iran developing nuclear weapons at all? Is it a good idea to continue to push forward with nuclear energy despite international sanctions? Why?

I hope its not too late to reply ur question Chris as I just made an account in harnu, well, the government in iran is working on nuclear energy they never said they are building nuclear weapons, what medias and other governments are trying to show against the iranian government regarding their actions about building nuclear weapons are only doubts nothing 100% sure. regarding to supporting the nuclear program among iranians, Yes there are people who support the government to improve its nuclear program for the country needs and meanwhile there are some people who disagree with their actions. but no one agrees to nuclear weapons. If the iranian government's policy about continuing nuclear energy despite the hard sanctions is correct, is something which each person has different opinion about it. but in general people believe that the west won't cancel the sanctions even if iran stops its programs, as the sanctions have been applied over past 33 years and they are becoming harder and harder. the general thought is that the west doesnt want a strong anti west government in the region. I only said what most people think, but the exact answers could be said only by politicians.

Welcome Aliko. I am not a government official so I can't know for sure whether Iran is really making nuclear weapons or not. Here in Israel, most people believe it is true, I don't hear anyone denying it. But what I never knew is: you seem to be saying is that Iranian people do not believe that Iran is making nuclear weapons, and you also say "no one agrees to nuclear weapons". Does that mean that the Iranian people oppose the idea of making the bomb? So, IF the Iranian government is making nuclear weapons, the people don't know about it? That is very interesting.

Tell me, if the Iranian government is making the bomb, and the Iranian people find out about this, what would they say? How would they react?

Thank you Mormious, Yes, Most people oppose the idea of making nuclear bomb but still there is a fear among people as they are surrounded by the military bases and strong armies around the country all the time threatening to attack the country. If you look at the neighbors of Iran you might easily find out that people are right to be scared. India and Pakistan got nuclear bombs, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Arabic countries of Persian Gulf are full of western military bases so that makes people not feel so safe while the hear in the news about eauropian and american politicians threatening for an attackt that's why people would like the army to be stronger in order to be able to defend itself if there's gonna be a serious attack. (I hope it will never happen) Anyways, this topic is not something which is the 1st concerns of people. as the answer of your question that if the government tries to build nuclear weapon and people will find it out.... I believe all the governments keep their secrets. so people won't find out many things and even if it will reveal some day, what people can do? If you get to know that your government has already built 3rd generation of nuke bombs, what can you do? I guess nothing, people only can oppose to some actions and if something wrong happens a negative atmosphere will be made in the society. actually what you are asking is so hard to answer, I have to be a sociologist to be able to answer this. I only said what I think will happen. Despite all these, I only can say the view of other countries is so exaggerating towards Iran. regards

Why is it ok for USA to have nuclear weapons and no one else. What other country has used nuclear bombs beside the USA?

The United States, Russia, The United Kingdom,France, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel (undeclared) all have nuclear weapons. I pulled this form a Wikipedia page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_states_with_nuclear_weapons And in my opinion no countries should have nuclear weapons. But unfortunately in 2012 the sad fact is that tons of countries have them. And when two conflicting nations such as Israel and Iran or India and Pakistan, have nuclear weapons the risk of hundreds of thousands, even millions of civilians could die. I don't believe that any tyrant official (Israeli or Iranian) should be able to have that power.

Thank you for your response Aliko. I certainly wish no countries had nuclear weapons. Every country has the same excuse: that they need the weapons to defend against other countries with nuclear weapons. I also think that although westerners make a big deal about North Korea and Iran developing their own weapons, they don't complain enough about the USA, Russia, China, Israel and the other senior members of the 'nuclear club'.

But I am really afraid of Iran having nuclear weapons. Iran's leaders are always saying things along the lines of 'one day the zionist regime will be destroyed and thrown into the sea'. They support the Hamas and Hezbollah organizations with weapons. They are also one of the only countries in the world that actively deny the holocaust, denying what the nazi regime did to my grandparents and their families, at least 5 million other Jews, as well as 5 million Romani, political dissenters and others who died in the holocaust (people usually talk about Jews in the holocaust but of course it was much bigger than that). Given all this, if the Iranian government had nuclear weapons, how do you think they would use them? What am I supposed to think?

I want to tell you that our prime minister Bibi Netanyahu is facing elections in the next few months, and his socio-economic policies are very unpopular. Some Israelis think he is using this aggressive language against Iran to distract voters from his failures. Of course Israelis are worried about Iran, but almost everyone except Bibi's political allies - military officials, mosad officials, journalists are all saying that Bibi is too aggressive, and that threatening Iran is irresponsible, because it risks getting into a war we don't really need to fight. Even the United States is not really supporting Bibi. Israel probably won't bomb Iran in the near future.

@Chris Z at the end of your post you imply that the Israeli government is tyrannical. The current Israeli government is indeed irresponsible, aggressive, and display anti-democratic leanings against political opponents in their own country, but don't forget they are only men of flesh and blood, and are facing elections soon - elections I expect them to lose.

Mormious _ actually the same fear is among Iranian people as well, people are afraid of that Israel always talk aggressively towards Iran with variety of threatens. Yes, the Iranian government do support Hasbullah and some Palestinian groups against Israel but same does Israeli government against Iran but you don't usually hear about them in the news. sometimes terrorist groups attack some border villages and kill people and civilians there to make the area unsafe. They terror our scientists and physicians even in major cities and it's been proved that they are all supported and assigned by Mosad.

So obviously both governments do actions against on another but the victims are no body BUT THE PEOPLE. About all nuclear thing, as far as some countries own them and might even used them before, other countries tend to get them as well as they might be scared !!! ( It's a normal fact I suppose ).

I also wish that there were no such thing hence no war, no hate and no killings. We are all humans we are nothing different from one another and we wish the same thing.

I agree 100% with Aliko. I think there should be a line thrown between the people of the countries, the Government and our friends at Fox News that just divert the true with their own twisted version of the world.

What is sadly happening between Iran and the US is fueled by political reasons more than real people wanting to kill the other country's people. Political power has proven to be among the most dangerous things we humans have ever invented.
