I am learning about traditional food dishes all around the world. What would be an example of traditional dish / meal in South Africa? Thanks.

Hey Aniag

I know I'm not from SA but we have some similar dishes in Zimbabwe. If you are interested in finding out more you can check out our project at www.fudunow.com. there are links to the blog and facebook groups there.

There is a wealth of info about SA traditional food out there compared to what is on the internet about Zimbabwean Food.

The cliche one is Pap and Wors(a thick maize meal porridge dish made with boerwors, a spiced sausage) In Zimbabwe the cliche is Sadza and relish which can be any meat dish and vegetables such as rape. There is a world more but the Fudu people would be able to help with the Zimbabwe stuff, their email is people@fudunow.com

Borewors (literally, farmer's sausage) is a very popular spicy, long sausage that we usually braai (our word for barbeque). This would typically be eaten with pap (a white, thick maize porridge) and sous (sauce - usuall a tomato and onion relish, sometimes hot).
