I find it.. best state (lowest crime, highest salary, lowest prices, lowest unemployments, etc..) the winner is VIRGINIA !!!

currently i would say Colorado with the new industry it has good and decent paying jobs the price to rent a hose is not bad s long as you dont want to live in denver or on a resort the crime rates are lowering ever since January 2014 and expected to continue to decline slowly over the next few years

It depends on what you seek. The US is varied, so what you prefer would determine what is the best state for you. Cold/mild/warm/hot, wet/dry, urban/rural, upscale/not, etc. All should factor into it.

Thanks for the input people. I will be living in Connecticut for a couple of months through the company. Thinking about the longer term if I am interested.
