I love Oak Island, NC!! Beautiful, quiet beach. It was also featured recently in "Safe Haven" based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same title.

A lot of the beaches on the west coast of Florida are great in my opinion, with clear waters and white sand. Fort Walton Beach, right next to Destin, is a great little gem in my opinion. You don't ever hear about it like you would with Fort Lauderdale, Daytona, or Panama City Beach, but I think it's a great place to relax and enjoy the beach. I have never been there yet, but I have also heard the Sanibel Island, near Fort Myers, is an amazing beach and somewhere to definitely visit.

I used to live in California and there are many, many beaches there. Some are big and crowded, good if you like seeing a lot of people, such as Huntington Beach and Santa Monica. Others are more out of the way and much less frequented, such as Laguna Beach and Corona del Mar in Orange County. Of course, pretty much all of southern California is heavily populated and often crowded. San Diego has great beaches too. Oceanside, San Clemente and many more.
