Question for the Harnu founders - This release seems awfully bare-bones to me. What do you think people can and should use these for? Do you have plans to add other features?

Hi Mark - great question. The current release is definitely bare bones. We have a set of features (and design changes) that will roll out in the next few weeks. One strength of rolling the features out bit-at-a-time is that we get a feel for what's useful and what's not.

The main use case for the current functionality is to enable people who already want to have conversations with people who speak another language to do so. Another use case is for people to take content that they are already posting online and post it here, so that people who speak different languages can read the content as well. But there are many other use cases that are equally as powerful.

I wonder if Harnu is considering building a mobile application. I enjoy checking in on posts and replies from my desktop computer, but I would check back much more often if I could use Harnu from my mobile device. Are you thinking about that? What is the timing and the plan.

Also - I just noticed the "people search" application at the top this week; I've been using Harnu for quite a while and had never seen that. It's truly amazing to see the dispersion of Harnu users across the globe!

I also wonder whether you plan to add the ability to follow specific people, instead of just notifying me that messages that I've commented to have changed.

Agree on the mobile site. I notice that you can't access Harnu from iPad now either, which is unfortunate.

What are you doing right now to build the community? Are we all here solely because of people telling each other about the site, or are there other efforts to get people to join?
