Well most of the people know that Pakistan is a country that has terrorists roaming around and moving freely but I would like to clear that out, Pakistan is the country that has been hit the most by terrorism and we are fighting and living against it on our own. It is a beautiful country with rivers, mountains, plains and a number of different seasons around the the year. People are loving and friendly. So I want to put in front of you the real Pakistan. I hope it can change the perception of a lot of people.

I would like to say out of a population of 187 million you are always going to get some sort of trouble. Not everyone should be tagged with same brush. The Pakistanis i have met throughout my life have been my friends and continue to be my friends to this day. It does not matter where you come from in the world there is always going to be the trouble makers. Nobody should judge anyone.Peace be with you!

FANTASTIC post, immz! Very good to have you on Harnu, and I encourage you to keep writing and sharing about your country. I have several good friends who are also Pakistani (one of whom I believe still lives there) and they all say the same thing.

I think of Pakistan as a beautiful country with a complicated history. Do you feel that your government is making any progress towards fighting terrorism?

immz thank you so much for writing this. I do think Americans in particular get a pretty negative view of Pakistan from our mainstream press. It is often described in terms like "too nuclear to fail", and much of the focus of the news coverage is either on terrorism, or the animosity between Pakistan and India (which I admit I don't understand at all).

Also occasionally cricket, which I also don't understand at all.. :-)

So thank you again for your message. I think everyone on Harnu would love to know more about the real Pakistan!

I don't know that I have ever met a Pakistani before this year. My company is currently working with a fine young man to develop well drilling initiative in Africa. Naimat is well educated, smart, kind and has a heart of service. I couldn't have a better experience with my first introduction to the Pakistani culture.

Hola Immz!

Thanks to all of you. I feel that harnu is really a special place. really feel great for such a warm welcome. Thanks @Dundonian @ryan1 @Mark2 @paul @socialimpact and @NekoZen. @SueMac, Thanks for your comments and yes the government is taking a lot of steps to deal with the terrorist. Even the civilians are backing the government for it and I am sure we will handle it and get rid of it.

Unfortunate that common people still need to suffer. I hope leaders will understand that people want to live in peace and not under war.

Yes. This site is so important. It so easy to develop simplistic, one-sided views about whole countries and whole peoples. We need to hear each other's stories to get more realistic and humanistic understanding of real people and real experiences. Thank you for telling us your experiences.
