This is another of my favorite close-to-home hikes, as it has a variety of habitats (riverside, streams, ponds, meadows, deciduous forest, evergreen forest), many miles of trails, few people (even on the weekend!), and a profusion of birds and other wildlife. You can expect to see deer, beaver, and other mammals if you are patient and quiet. The trail to the Snohomish River is beautiful (look for the giant, mossy Bigleaf Maple by the river!) and home to several native plants I usually have to go farther afield to see. Check out the old quarry, too. There are new maps and benches posted at some of the more confusing trail intersections, which is handy. #trees #wildlife #birds #hikes
