My family traces back to the Khoury and Alchediak families in Lebanon some of which lived in and near Tyre. I'd be interested in visiting one day...what is it town and area like now? #travel

Hey, Khoury and Chidiak are very known families in Lebanon! Tyre is really nice old city. The beach is great there, people from Beirut, like me, visit Tyre on purpose to enjoy the vast sandy beaches, the old souks with the fishermen and the Phoenician ruins.

interesting - my grandfather was born in Beirut in 1901 and my grandmother was born in New Zealand to Lebanese parents - that makes me 1/2 Lebanese. I now live in Tasmania Australia. We are related to the Khoury family from way back when. we are probably related somewhere along the line. About all that is left of the culture for my family now is a few swear words and recipes. My great grandparents (maternal side) prob left Lebanon due to the bigotry - they were Catholic. They then copped it when they went to NZ - poor people never really fitted in either country, would have been hard times
