As long as I can remember I've wanted to visit Greece. But I keep hearing from people who say it's not a good time because of the economic crisis. Just how shaken is the country from a tourist's point of view? Should I wait until the hard times pass? #travel

I am not from Greece, but have been there many times recently. I would not wait to go. It is obviously tougher for some folks than others right now - across the board cuts in pensions affect one differently depending on what your level of pension was, but things keep moving on. It is still a wonderful country to visit for all of the reasons it always has been.

It's definitely hard in Greece right now, but from a tourist perspective i would not think about it. You see, prices have gone down on several tourist offerings, and you probably find less expensive packages nowadays. Greece's biggest industry is tourism, and i think we don't afford to lose more. There is a saying here in Greece, especially these hard times, that Greek people in the tourism industry should provide even better services to all tourists that regardless what they hear in the country by the media they decide to travel anyway! And i totally agree.

Thanks, dgiouvris! I wondered if that was the case. I'd still really like to visit!
