Hi chokopoki, good morning from Seattle, and welcome to Harnu! Harnu is a new service designed to give individuals the opportunity to create connections with people they would otherwise never meet. Our goal is to build a social network with a global perspective, where our users can learn about other countries and cultures and share their own. Harnu is thus a combination of a translation service, map-based messaging interface, and content aggregator, with news and music from around the world.

If you look through the questions and messages that have been sent so far, you will see that we have a number of teachers that are beginning to use the service, as well as individuals seeking travel tips, wanting to practice another language, and a lot of folks who simply want to share something about they live, or get a local perspective on an issue they may have read about.
