Hi! It looks like this is a link to a news site in Gomel, Belarus. What's it like there?
Oh! Do you know something about Gomel? It's great!
I'm afraid I don't know much at all about Gomel or Belarus in general except perhaps President Lukashenko whom we hear about in the press from time to time. What should we know about Belarus and Gomel?
Думаю, что ничего особенного у нас нет) Меня больше интересуют Соединенные Штаты. Правда ли, что у вас очень консервативная страна?
Here is a quick look at how people in the US voted in the 2008 presidential election. Red represents more conservative districts. While there is certainly more land area covered in red, the population mix is fairly even.
Hello on_silver in Belarus!
I also wanted to let you know that I would not consider the US as conservative. As the map shows, there are a lot of red states which generally mean they vote Republican but that only represents one aspect of society. There are open-minded people all throughout the US, even in the red states. More liberal and open-minded people live on the coasts and more conservatives live in the midwest. The South, the deep south has its own very distinct culture and there is more racism and oppressive laws in the Southern states. In Seattle, for example, we are very progressive, with a vibrant community of people who want social and economic justice in this country, rights for immigrants, rights for gays and lesbians, and freedom of speech and religion. Oakland, California is another city that has strong open-minded people, who are politically engaged and are active in public demonstrations for justice. I hope one day you can visit and find out for yourself! :) Thanks for asking the question! Its a great question. How about Belarus? Are people conservative?
