Singapore is now all abuzz over having a "national conversation", where the government is trying to portray themselves as being more open and engaging citizens. But many people aren't convinced. #politics

Kixes, this is a great post. Thank you. You mentioned, "government gaining acceptance into conversations that Singaporeans have already been having without them." What are those conversations? What are the major issues that need to be tackled in Singapore?

Some major issues: - Cost of living -> It's getting ridiculously expensive to live in Singapore. At the rate it's going, there will be generations of Singaporeans who won't be able to afford to own their own homes, or have to take ridiculously long loans (50 years!) to pay. - Population -> There's been a huge influx of foreigners into Singapore. Personally I don't have an issue with it, although it has brought the rise of xenophobia into public discourse. But the more important issue is whether our infrastructure can really support such a huge population. - Politics -> This is a hard topic to tackle in the official national conversation, of course, because it's led by the ruling party. But Singaporeans are starting to realise that we don't have a proper democracy, and more and more people are demanding more than just economic benefits; younger Singaporeans want to be part of the political process too.
