I'm looking to hear from anyone who has run the Lake Saroma Ultramarathon. What are the entry procedures, are there any entry restrcitions for non Japanese, what are the best English language information sources? #travel
robg, I don't think there are a lot of English language resources. I ran it in 2008 and I know a lot of people on Dailymile have run it. You might try hoping on Dailymile and finding people there who've run it.
As far as I know, anyone from any country can enter the race. The application deadline is in March and opens about the second week in January. So you have 6 months to prepare if you sign up in January. A little bit of information can be found at the following links, in order of usefulness: http://running-hokkaido.blogspot.jp/2010/01/saroma-lake-100km-ultramarathon.html http://www.geocities.co.jp/Athlete-Crete/7686/eng/jmg_ultra/ultra_saroma.html http://www.kitamikanko.jp/english/57_06_marathon.html
Perhaps I should make some more detailed English information on this great race....
robg, Looks like the application deadline has been moved up a month to February. This year the deadline was 2/17 by mail and 2/28 by online application at runnet.jp.
Saroma Lake marathonは誰でも参加できます。今年は2012年6月24日 (日) に開催されました。
Thanks @clintonlane and @opapi - lots of information for me to review - much appreciated.
