does anyone know if Khorog is now accessible for tourists? #travel
Jag är ledsen, men jag vet inte. Ert land är vacker. Med så många berg, kan någon åka skidor där?

Hi, Sadly it's not at the moment. You need to get a GBAO permit to visit and the government has stopped allowing visitors to get them. The situation is likely to change later in the year. There is a media blackout from the region at the moment so the general situation in Khorog is fairly unknown but seems to be better than it was in August. Hope that helps. Generally, I'd advise looking at the official advise given by your government foreign office. Sophie www.tajiktourism.com
Thank you Sophie. I am actually in Khorog now and the situation is back to normal, although the military and other security forces that were pulled in back in July are still in town. The president was here this week and they said the security forces were kept here for his visit security. So hopefully now they will start pulling them out.
That is good to know! How did you manage to get your GBAO permit? From an embassy of in Dushanbe? I heard that they were still not letting foreigners get them but if they are I will update my website mentioned where you got yours. Thanks, Sophie
Yes it is!
Hey Sophy, actually I do have dual passport that managed to get to Khorog with no permit. But I could notice an influx of foreigners in the region, which I guess means now you can get the permi easily.
