What's been your impression of the RNC convention and convention-goers? #current_events

Unorganized? Poorly scripted? Taking the "we built it" mantra out of context interminably makes them appear desperate. Never heard much of anything about foreign policy. I didn't get the sense that the party liked their candidate that much before he came on. And when Ohio representatives boasted of their successful job creation and budget trimming, it seemed like a plug for Obama's economic recovery.

Seems the republican party is pretty divided, with speeches like Ann Romney's and Chris Christie's clashing jarringly. I was actually expecting them to be more united for this particular campaign. It's such a show too. I can't take the emotional responses the delegates are having seriously.

I would have liked to see Ron Paul or McCain run. I prefer Obama to them both (and to Romney/Ryan) as the lesser evil, but this polarization is doing very real damage to the country as it prevents us from having productive policy discussions at this crucial moment. I'd like to see the incumbent president really challenged on the drug war, the wars in the Middle-East, and what more we could be doing to fix the economy. Instead we have this clown-parade and medieval theories on pregnancy. Disgraceful.

I thought the Economist's take on the Republican convention was pretty interesting. I actually agree with much of this.

Clint Eastwood's empty chair routine made me cringe with embarrassment for him.
